"IDEAS FOR AWAKENING THE HEART"

"IDEAS FOR AWAKENING THE HEART"

The Mexican artist-painter Arturo Solari presents the exhibition “Ideas for awakening the Heart” at the Kashi Art Café

The artist painter Arturo Solari (born in Mexico City in 1969) presents a series of new artworks made on paper.

Solari, independently educated, has learned and worked on various artists’ and teachers’ studios in Mexico, Spain and Italy.
Since 12 years he lives and studies in Barcelona, where he has developed his professional career.
Solari has presented more than 60 solo and group exhibitions on various countries and his works are part of public and private collections on countries of Europe and the Americas, as well as in India and Japan.

Exhibiting for the third time at Kashi (he previously did it on 1998 and 1999), he now presents a new series called “Ideas for awakening the Heart”. Most of the pieces are painted with mixed media on paper and are of small size.
The artworks have titles that are closely related to the author’s inner world.
“The art of painting has a strong poetic sense to me and a title can add magic and mystery to the painting or can also give some clues about it”, says the author.

These artworks have themes that are important and concern him, they give an outlook of his world view and his present intuitions.
“Many of these paintings are related with the present time in which we are all living. I see ‘our home’ (the world), that disintegrates and falls apart for moments: polluted cities with dark human beings that merge with the pollution or that are subject to alienation, rats that fight for a mirage, the underlying reality of loving couples, a Globe which is about to crash, etc.” says Solari.

The artist adds about his pictures: “But on the other side there is hope, many times translated on the own effort for offering good wishes and feelings, on a bet for innocence - in spite of the obstacles and the loss of innocence and coolness on our culture -. It is a bet for love, for the connection with the own consciousness and the remembrance of the spiritual source, ultimately, for the strength of fragility on a world that suffers of many totalitarianisms and blindness which tend to make us blind of spirit”.

This exhibition is about a ‘Critical Innocence’, an innocence which is cared about and treasured in front of the risks of the present time, - Kali Yuga, the Iron Age, the Age of Ignorance, according to the Hinduist point of view -. This innocence is conscious about these risks and points out with an almost childlike, though wise finger, that the significant things are being forgotten. “It is about a voice that rebels, that realizes and that protests through these images and titles”, says the artist.

Apart from his personal painting work, Solari presently coordinates exhibitions, promotes creativity and the arts and works as an art therapist. He has taught meditation and has given creative courses for inmates of Spanish prisons, substance abusers, HIV-AIDS ill, migrants, adults on literacy and women victims of violence and abuse.

The exhibition “Ideas for awakening the Heart” will be inaugurated on October 29 and will be open until November 8, 2005 at the Kashi Art Café in Fort Cochin (Kerala).

Barcelona, October 2005.
